The SAWIG Nature-Based Solutions to Shoreline Erosion Community Engagement Program aims to encourage coastal property owners to utilize nature-based solutions where applicable to protect against erosion through wide-distribution of informative resources, site visits, and shoreline tree and shrub plantings.
Informative resources about nature-based solutions and the promotional materials about the program will be developed and shared through online social media channels.
You can find these resources on our Instagram or Facebook pages linked below:
SAWIG staff will conduct site visits with a select number of landowners within the watershed to assess their property to determine what nature-based solutions may be suitable. In some cases, native trees and shrubs may be incorporated into nature-based solutions and planted by SAWIG staff.
What are Nature Based Solutions (NBS)?
Nature based solutions can help conserve our landscapes and infrastructure, as well as assist with our mental health and well-being. Focusing on restoring and protecting natural areas can aid in mitigating and adapting to climate change
